Sarzana Surprise!

"Sarzana is an interesting Side Trip"

Once you get past the dingy entry into this town, Sarzana is one of the prettiest towns in Italy. It's very small and uncrowded, but quite beautiful. It is just off the highway to La Spezia on your way to Cinque Terra. Very few tourists stop and visit. There are medieval castles behind the town that I did not have time to explore. The small town has a number of nice cafes. I will definitely visit again. There is a bakery to the left of a parking area just before it starts getting nice, it is quite good. Great pizzas and pastries. Locals are friendly.
