Scalea is a small seaside town in the south of Italy. The town has been known for years as an excellent holiday destination amongst the Italians but until recently has been virtually undiscovered by the British.

This is slowly changing because Ryanair is now running low cost flights to Calabria's Lamezia terme airport from Standtead.

The town of Scalea is very picturesque. It is neatly sandwiched between the sea and the mountains and is littered with monuments, cafes, bars and resteraunts.

I am out there a lot so can recommend some good english speaking resteraunts in the area and put you in touch with some local companies that can arrange car hire, airport transfers and excursions.
