Aci Trezza
Less than 10 km to the north of Acireale you can stumble upon a small fishing village - Aci Trezza. The main attraction of it is Rocks of the Cyclops, a cone-shaped mass of black lava rising up from the water.
The Odyssey relates that these were the rocks hurled by Polyphemus against Ulysses, who had blinded him by thrusting a flaming stake into his only eye; the hero than escaped with his companions by clinging to the bellies of rams belonging to the Cyclops.
Though the small harbor is rather picturesque itself with numerous colored isherman's boats scattered along.
