bus routes/tickets

by polly123

can you kindly inform me if you can get transport tickets (bus) at the airport please?

Re: bus routes/tickets

Although I have not been to Catania airport, I would be very surprised indeed if this was not the case. Bus companies would not make much money if it were.

In Italy, bus tickets are usually sold at newsagents/tabacchi but you may also find them sold from a booth within the airport and/or at machines.

This page lists bus services from the airport, in English:

Have caught the bus from Airport Catania to Giardini Naxos having no problem getting tickets. Can't recall if ticket was purchased on bus or at nearby ticket booth. See the link provided by leics to find your destination & appropriate bus company. We also used Inter Bus to do several local trips. A word of warning: buses, trains and ferryboats in Sicily invariably run "not quite on time" ,at best. So don't plan any tight scheduling between transport services.

On Sicily they are 3 airports right now and I don't know on which one you'll land.

CATANIA
You should look for the sign AMT. There's a bus 457 that goes from the Central Station to the airport and back. Or the 524 going from P.zza Borsellino to the airport and back. In the airport you have the tourist info sign with an "i" and they should be able to give you a free Catania map and help with the but. I presume you can find tickets in "edicola" where they are selling newspapers.

Trapani
Terravision (Ryanair) connects the airport with the city. They sell tickets in the airport.

PALERMO
You can reach the city by bus going to the Central Station:

by train with Trinacria Express:

Travel Tips for Catania

Off the road but gastronomic

by pelinulger about Nangallaruni

This is the most gastronomic restaurant in whole Sicily. The owner is invited to all clunary shows to represent Sicilian cuisine.
They not only have the best local dishes, but also the most creative usage of well known vegetables like aubergines. (Cooked with honey and served as dessert).
They are mainly specialised in funghi di bosco and wild pig dishes.

Piazza Dusmet

by ICBT

This is a piazza a bit to the west of Piazza Duomo that is surrounded by interesting things. The statue in the center is of the Cardinal Dusmet, whose body is on display in the Duomo.

Nearby: on the west side of the Piazza is Bellini's House and Museum, on the right the Immacolata Church that houses the candelora of St. Agata, to the north through an arch is Via Crociferi and its many baroque churches.
