ERASMUS student accommodation possibility
by bardoem
Hi there all!
I'll move to Catania in february 2006 for a semester. I have a lot of questions for you! Please help me, because I need these informations! Thank you very much!
I'd like to make this question: how much does it cost to stay at a rented flat in Catania for a month? I don't want to rent it alone, I will have roommates (hopefully), so I'm interested in the whole price for 2 or 3 persons. Where could I search for rentable flats? Could you please send me a web link where I can find some? It would be a great help! Thank you! Of course I have a lot other questions, but this is my first step!
Thank you for your help!
Bye:

Hi Callista!
Thank you very much for your answer.. I just thought that nobody can answer my question. I can calculate perhaps with 150-200 euro for one person one month. Of yourse I'll search for the cheapest accommodation possible, because unfortunately the state does not give too much money... Perhaps can you give me tips how could I find roommates?
Otherwise I'll thank you if you write me what are the good places there. Is the city a big one? Right now I don't know anything about Sicily and nothing about Catania. I'm ashamed of course, but I have still time. :-)
I'll try this website what you have suggested in your last mail.
Bye!

Hi:)
Me and my boyfriend are going to study in Catania too:D
We decided that first we will try to get a room in "Caracciolo" (they are advertising it at the university page; it costs about 180 € per month) for a month and during this time we'll look for a flat.
I think it's better idea than look for an appartment now, becouse u'll have a chance to meet other erasmus students and future roomates:)
Good luck and see u in Catania!!!

Alcantara Gorge. A gorge created when the cold water of the Alcantara river split the volcanic basalt rock. Weird and wonderful rock formations and a popular tourist trip but take the bus and spend a couple of hours exploring the lower reaches of the valley.

Trevelyan Gardens (Parco Duchi di Cesaro)Taormina
Once the private garden of Florence Trevelyan, created at the end of the 19th century using the English garden as a model, it is now the town park. As well as aromatic and rare plants you will find some unusual follies built from natural stone, wood and an odd assortment of relics. There is a wonderful vista of the coast and to Etna beyond from the balcony and cafe overlooking the sheer drop to the sea below.

Catania is a sprawling city built on the gentler slopes of the eastern
seaboard of Sicily (as opposed to, say, the cliff-edge town of
Taormina). At one level, it is just another grand Italian city,
with its beautiful fountains, churches, and markets.
At another level, it is a historical wonder, laden with artifacts and
archaeological finds of Sicily's multi-imperial past.
As a major economic center, Catania bustles with activity.
Much of Sicily's industry is nearby, as is the hub of her rail and
road systems. But the center of the city is old, classic Italian
-- filled with great, authentic Sicilian food (which is different
than what is considered Sicilian in the states) and tremendous
atmosphere.
