Go up to Mount Etna! Get as close as you can to the top, that is if the volcano is not erupting!
You can find standing snow on Etna in the winter. I was up there in January of 1988 and had the first full-blown snowball fight I had since leaving home a year earlier. Of course, being from Minnesota, I had an advantage over my Sicilian friends!

"Arranging Sicily tour..."
We arranged our Sicily travel from internet... This took some time, but it worth every day, every second.
We worked with guidetodrive@virgilio.it, they provide a nice service. As we were two families with kids (aged 11 and 12), we needed a more relaxed tour, ith a more flexible program. They arranged our english speaking guide&driver, our minibus (for 9, with A/C), our hotels and we programmed the 7 days where to see.
As our driver was based in Catania, our program started from Catania and ended again at Catania. Well, may be Palermo is a better city to start from, but anyway, we have been almost everywhere..Catania is a center city to see Syracusa and Taormina.
The first day, we went to Syracusa, then Taormina. And each night, we returned to Catania. Then we moved to Agrigento, then Erice. One night at Palermo, back to Catania, over Cefalu.
We stayed at Sicily for 7 days, but this was a bit rush. I would suggest 9-10 days. We could spend some more time at Palermo, we could spare some time to sea and sun. Especially at Selinunte and Cefalu.
We are very happy with the gastronomic and historic travel. Our guide Giacomo Mazzo is very good. He arranged everything and was very helpfull for arranging our gastronomic adventures. He was patient with kids as well.
