Catania Information
Could someone recommend a hotel near the airport and a filling station in Contania. We will have an early flight and would feel more comfortable staying near the airport. We will be coming from Taormina. We are looking for something in the mid price range. Thank you.

We had a very hard time finding a place to stay in Catania. We looked near the train station and there was nothing, rode the bus the whole circuit out to the airport and anything out there was too expensive for us, ended up getting off at the centro stop, found a reasonable hotel and it was nice downtown. The next morning took the bus to the airport which runs pretty regularly, took about 45 minutes if I remember correctly and the bus drivers are absolutely CRAZY! He actually bumped right into cars to get them out of the way.

We also had an early flight from Catania after our visit to Central Sicily in April; we booked Hotel Nettuno through venere.com

We wanted a hotel with easy access to the airport but outside the city; Nettuno was perfect. The rooms were clean and very nice. Really nice included breakfast. Beautiful views of the ocean, and interesting black lava stone "beach". The boardwalk across from the hotel was great for walking and there were little restaurants (and gelato shops) nearby. The taxi ride to the airport was 25 euros and took about a half hour in early morning traffic, but it would have been a reasonable drive if we had kept our car; Nettuno had free parking. (We turned in the car day before)
