San Michele Inn: Hotel/Inn on the second floor of a building :)

Not a fancy place, but clean, with a friendly staff and a nice location.

This place was a nice surprise. Really I wasn't expecting to find a hotel at the second floor of a building, but, then again, it is ALWAYS so nice to be surprised.
The staff was very very very local :) I mean, will be difficult to have a conversation if you don't know italian. But I was talking sooo much italian..... until i figured it out that the reason nobody understood me was because they don't speak SPANISH ...

At this Hotel or Inn :) i loved the owner... An old, short, italian man, probably a Don Juan in his youth, still having some charm when he was speaking or moving around while fixing our coffee in the mornings.
This, like many other business in Italy, are kept in the family and mostly the family members are also running it.

Baglio Santa Croce: Staying at Erice

The hotel is owned by a restaurant owner. He started the business with a small and very succesfull restaurant, then invested in hotel.
The hotel as two parts. Old and new. The old part is very authentic. Rooms are nicely decorated, but there is no A/C. So, in very hot days of summer, this is like a sauna.
The new part is more comfortable. With A/C of course.

The meal is delicious. You can also have half board.

The hotel is NOT at old Erice, but at VALERICE.

Discoury Bay Palace: Agrigento 4 stars

We stayed only one night at this hotel. This is at seaside, but we prefered pool, which was better. They also have towel service at pool.
The breakfast was really nice.
The rooms are spacious although the A/C was set to 22 degrees, which can be quiet cool.

Pensione Rubens: A Great Little Find of a Hotel

We had stayed one night in a hotel in Catania that turned out to be very noisy, so we moved to this little place for the rest of our stay. This is one of those rare finds, an older couple that understand hospitality and that’s what they do. The hotel is very central and was very reasonably priced with very comfortable and clean rooms and the continental breakfast was great.

The owner speaks fluent Italian (of course) English, Swiss, German and even at times, but only to polite guests, American.

You will also find some very interesting art here and a book swap system. If you are traveling and have just finished a book you may leave it at the hotel and take another on the next leg of your journey.

Hotel Ramada Girdini Naxos.: Hotel Ramada Girdini Naxos.

100E per room

The hotel itself is impressive, a very spacious marble floored lobby and bar area, all chandeliers, gold lamps and kitsch mythological themed murals on every wall, an airy restaurant (more murals), sufficient well-placed lifts, hairdresser, gift shop, toilets, snooker room and the inevitable piped music. Beneath is a vast conference facility. Rooms well furnished, ours had a mezzanine floor with king-size bed and spacious 2nd bathroom, a wonderful sea view and a spectacular view of Etna from the door, the linen was changed every day, maid service was excellent. The “international” restaurant offered a choice of 4 or 5 starters and main meals but although of good quality the food was a bit samey and not always cooked to our 'English' taste, vegetables overcooked in olive oil, one boiled potato and a piece of lemon, salad bar was unimaginative, however the pasta was excellent and desserts were interesting. Well positioned on beach near bus station, spottlessly clean, pleasant efficient staff
