It is my favourite film too. It was filmed in the real village of Palazzo Adriano in Sicily. So we are both in Korea and we both love that film? It's amazing how popular it is here. Have you seen "Amarcord"? If you like Il Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, you will like that too.

There is a travel outfit called "Think Sicily" that will help you "experience" the movie by living in Palazzo Adriano for a week...

Title: Cinema Paradiso (1989), directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
Location: Sicily.

Synopsis: A famous film director returns to his home town and remembers Alfredo, the projectionist who inspired his passion for film at the Cinema Paradiso, and his lost love, Elena. In reality it was filmed in the village of Palazzo Adriano, which doubles as the fictional village of Giancaldo, the perfect setting for wistful walks. Stay in the nearby Abbazia di Santa Maria del Bosco, a 13th-century Benedictine abbey on the edge of an oak wood in the Sicani hills. It sleeps 10 and has high, vaulted corridors, rooms converted from monks' cells and a chapel.

Starring: ThinkSicily (020 7377 8518; www.thinksicily.com).

Running time: A week.

Budget: From £3,916 for 10 people. Flights to Palermo cost from £24 with Ryanair (0871 246 0000; www.ryanair.com).

Certificate: U. Suitable for any age. Take lots of friends to avoid sorrowful nostalgia for your lost youth.

Hi! I don't know that film (sorry), but you are welcome to
my page, where I have some pics of Cefalu. It is a very pretty
town, enjoyed it there! If it was said in the film, that it is
playing in Cefalu then I am curious how they 'copied' the big Rocca
and the dome...

Travel Tips for Cefalú

The Beach

by bambino36

The mediterranean waters are much warmer when compared to the waters I'm used to: Atlantic. This beach with it's warm and calm waters is great for swimming.
Near the beach there are several restaurants permitting us to taste the delicious sicilian/italian food

CEFALU (Kephaloidion)

by ruki

The name derived from the Greek kefale (headland, promontory) which referred to the rocky mass dominating the present day urban area. This place has a great history. In the past it has very painful resistance to the Muslim attack and the city was burned and the population slaughtered. Today Cefalu is the modern and very fancy place for holiday.

I was surprised with this big waves...I didnt assume that something like this exist on Sicily. Its usually characteristic of the opened oceans.
I have spent a very relax day...The waves functioned like good hydro massage. Yes you can not swim but it’s quite interesting.
