Luxury overlooking the sea
Cefalu Sea Palace is quite a new hotel with gleaming, snazzy interior decor and balconies overlooking the beach. Detained in Sicily by the Volcanic Ash in April 2010, we decided to use our extra days by moving on to Cefalu. We booked a standard room but because the hotel was underoccupied, so early in the season, were upgraded to a superior room with sea view. This room was absolutely delightful, flooded with light and colour, plus state of the art bathroom and spacious balcony.
Breakfast, served downstairs by the swimming pool was plentiful but fell down somewhat with cheap coffee and orange juice.
The hotel is just across the road from the beach and within five minutes of Cefalu's lovely Old town. There is a garden and spacious sunbathing area round the pool, which we had practically to ourselves.
This type of modern hotel doesn't usually appeal to me for but what it lacks in atmosphere it definitely makes up for in terms of comfort and excellent location.
