Being where the Greeks first landed, you can see the archaeological dig outs in the Naxos area between Giardini and Recanti. There is also a reasonably nice seafront area with some touristy shops, vegetable grocers, bars and restaurants as well as a handful of budget hotels, but no major nightlife. Further towards the railway station is the nicest part of town with the Town Hall in its square full of orange trees, and with a more genuine feel to it.
