Marsala: History, Sunshine, Food and Wine
"History"
Founded in the 4th century BC after the destruction of Mozia, Marsala (from Arabic meaning "Port of God") has been a melting pot of a variety of cultures seeking control of this gateway through the Mediterranean.
Artifacts of Phoenician, Carthiginian, Roman, Greek, Moorish and Norman culture, among others, are to be found scattered throughout the region.
Converstions with local residents has led me to believe that it is virtually impossile to build a new home or business enterprise for fear of acccidentally digging up some ancient archeological treasure!
"Sunshine"
