Genoardo Park Hotel: A quiet retreat

This is a modern hotel in the residential area of Aquino, a short drive, bus or cab ride away from Monreale. It's built in the style of a traditional noble Sicilian court. This style softens what could otherwise be a rather cold atmosphere as the hotel is large and sprawling, so you end up feeling welcomed and relaxed. This is helped by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. One example of this was the barman - when we returned to the hotel after the football match it was midnight, the bar's advertised closing time, and he was on his way home, but he immediately offered to reopen to serve us a celebratory drink (we refused to let him however, and broke into the mini bar instead - well, you have to celebrate somehow!)

Our room was a good size, with a huge bed and a great view of the valley and other hills beyond. There's a pool, though this was closed when we visited in November, a bar (with OK prices considering the style and 4 star rating of the hotel) and a restaurant. The included breakfast was fine, though the choice wasn't extensive - we didn't have dinner here but I have a feeling it would have been a lot dearer than the tavernas of nearby Monreale, even allowing for the cab fare (about 15 Euros)

The hotel provides a shuttle bus service to the centre of Palermo twice a day (free of charge) and at other times or to other destinations (including Monreale and the airport) by arrangement, and with a charge.
