traditionalOrganic farm near Noto
There's place called 'Terra di Pace' or Land of Peace: it's organic farm in the rural part of Noto municipality, in a very pleasant landscape full of the lemon and olive trees on the slope. We visited it on overcast day in September and were guidied around the farm by the owner. We didn't make the appointment in advance so we hoped it will be allright if we just show up. It was fine like that - at that time they didn't yet have much work and our 'guide' explained us everything we asked - although he/we mixed Italian and English it was good talk. Their Acienda has lots of olive trees, agrumi (green lemon 'verdura', manadarines and oranges) on their ranch. They grow vegetables and spices to sell in the farm and Noto Market and to some restaurants. We did some shopping from the fields - buying fresh vegetables and spices was tempting enough, especially because you can see it by yourself that it grows naturally and without chemical treatment. They also keep a few goats, donkeys and hens in pen which they keep for eggs.
We also saw they have small restaurant which was closed during our visit and few rooms/bungalows to rent - which looked very nice in the rural style. In the yard there's cute terrace of stones and behind trees there was swimming pool for their guests who stay at the farm - would be great to come back and stay there a few days.
I loved their motto: ' Diamonds give birth to nothing, manure gives birth to flowers'. That is so true, indeed.
