Cheap, central option

The hotel is located on the first and second floor of an old building, just off Via Maqueda. The Quattro Canti are just a few minutes on foot away.
The building is a true maze, with many small corridors and stairs. As there is no elevator, you´ll have to drag your suitcase up and down some stairs. The rooms are rather big and high. The beds were okay, nothing special. Especially the bathroom could be better.
Breakfast is not something to look forward to. It is served in a cramped room with plastic forks and knives and not much choice.
The hotel is located near the railway station, supposedly not the best part of town. Personally I didn´t feel unsafe during my stay, but maybe I was just lucky.
If you bring your own car, you can park it in a nearby garage. Expect to pay around € 15 per day though.
All in all a moderately priced option in the centre of Palermo.

Unique Quality: Good price
In the city centre

Nice hotel in Palermo

I had made reservations at a different hotel. When we arrived at the address, it did not exist. Fortunately, the Sicilia was there. I explained my problem and asked if they had any rooms available. The price was reasonable and the room looked very cute. Very comfortable with nice bathroom. It turned out to be a perfect location. Very central and easy to find after a day of roaming around the city. There were internet cafes and fast food eateries very close. It was also within a block or 2 of many of the famous sights I had read about in guide books. The Sicilia was within 15 min walk of Piazza Independencia, one of the main bus terminals. I would definately stay there again on another trip to Palermo and would recommend it to others. The service was very friendly and helpful. Be sure to ask for a discount if you are staying for 3 or more days.

Unique Quality: Some of the rooms have small balconies overlooking the street. The gentleman at the desk explained that they are a little more noisy which is why he had placed us in an interior room. This was very nice also because it did have windows, just not overlooking the street. Our room had a spiral staircase going down to the bathroom. That worked out well because we were at a point in our trip that we needed to do laundry and the banister was good for hanging things.
