We arrived ferragosto for 8 days, The room had no view and in fact had absolute no daylight at night . The bathroom was immaculate the bedroom slightly less so - when I went to take my case to check out it was thick on the underside with dust and ooze! Breakfast was OK but seemed a bit mean that you have to pay for your second cup of tea or coffee! Also i am not a fan of long life milk with cereals. Room was very quiet so a good sleep every night. With no remote for the Air Conditioning, you will have to climb a chair to switch it on and off.
Free internet point was available outside our room, number 9.
Note in the picture the hotel is the BLUE SIGN to the right of the larger brown sign
Unique Quality: Although near the station, the other end of the long Via Roma is a better base, nearer the Teatro Poilteama and Piazza Castelnuovo
Also be aware that a side street between the hotel and the station appears to be the red light district!
Really only worth 5/10 (with a little more effort could be a lot better), so I'll give it 3 out of 5 and flag up a warning that they DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS despite my using a credit card to guarantee the room
Directions: Near the Stazione Centrale
The really good thing about this hotel was that it was just a couple of minutes' walk from the bus station, where the bus from the airport terminates. Also, its central location meant we could walk everywhere and nip back easily in the day. The staff were friendly, breakfast was 6.45 til 10.15 so you couldn't miss it.
On the downside, it was a bit dingier than it looked on the website - it's just a couple of floors above offices; the ensuite bathroom was spotless but just a hut-like addition to the bedroom. And our room wasn't cleaned or new towels given in three days, though I'm sure they would have done it swiftly if we'd asked.
We booked it via internet and this was the most expencive hotel durning our stay in Sicily and Malta. But- it has very good location on the main street- via Roma and very close to railway station! And our room had a view to the street.
All sightseeings- old town and sea are in walking distance.
NB- no parking places around hotel! We found some free place next street after Vittorio E. street- so it was 3 blocks away. But there is one public parking next to Railway station, but as you know- Palermo streets, traffic and parking- it horror cubic- so we left our car were it was.
Unique Quality: Very stylish brakfast- 2 tables are on balconies- so you can have breakfast with a view to via Roma!
There is old style elevator and all the atmosphere is very stylish old. The rooms have 3,5m high roofs!
Directions: Take via Roma from Railway station, its on the left side. Very unnoticed sign.
