We stayed at San Paolo for the final two nights in Sicily (after which we took the ferry back to Napoli and drove straight to Rome for our flight home). The hotel is not in the thick of things as far as Palermo goes, but it is a very nice hotel. You almost want to take a picture of your car as you pull up in front of the hotel to unload your bags, you drive up a small ramp to a platform that only fits one car, making you feel like a VIP. Our room had a great view of the gulf, the large window running the entire lenght of the room. The room was spacious, comfortable and well taken care of. The hotel was also very close to the ferry back to Napoli, which was extremely convenient.
Unique Quality: According to the brochure the hotel offers a panoramic lift to the attic floor (wasn't working while we were there), roof top swimming pool with piano bar and panoramic restaurant. There is also a bar and restaurant on the ground floor (we ate there both nights for dinner and the food was excellent). The hotel also has a free parking garage, bazaar, gymnasium, sauna and apparently was building tennis courts as well.
