How many tesserae does it take to make a bull?
Probably the highlight of my trip - this place blew my mind! The Roman mosaics here are amongst the best anywhere that you'll ever see. The Villa Romana has been declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO. If you don't see the rest of Piazza Armerina then at least go here if you like your art and archaeology as much as I do. The detail in some of the mosaics is truly incredible. It is about 3km from the town itself.
This is Must See with big M and S.... Crowds of tourists go via Piazza Armerina to that very place....
It claims to have the best preserved mosaics from the period of Roman Empire and it might be right.
Huge areas covered in mosaic pictures among the ruined walls can be explored walking along small bridges and steps set all over the museum...
I was really amased by this pic.... These are Greek girls in their underwear playing sports.... As there was no special sport gear in ancient Greece (NB you know why women weren't alowed to the first Olympic games? eh-he.... coz sportsmen competed naked!!!!!), so women (in contrary to men) wore underwear, but.... everything looks so uptpdate!!!! As if it's a pic taken at some beach.... Just look at it!
