i'm heading for Kamarina, Sicilia for 7months to work. I'm wondering if somebody knows what the local radio stations are, i love the belgian studio brussel, a mix of alternative, pop, r'n'b,...
Kamarina is in SE Sicily so you should be able to pick up FM Italia based in Siracusa. You may also be able to get Radio Messina 1 Special.
God a club med vacation (given) from 19 to 22 of April in Kamarina Sicely and have a few questions regarding the potentials of this trip:
1. How difficult it is to get from Kamarina to anywhere and what would be the best way? Car\Public transportation?
2. I would like to extend this vacation a bit and use some of the miles I have in Priority Club as well as Starwood for free nights (unless anybody can give me a reason why not to do so):
* Holiday Inn Express is located in Siracusa
* Sheraton is located in Catania
Which one from the location and transportation point of view would you recommend? We are planning to stay additional 5 nights or so... Am I correct that these 2 are the only 2 holiday inn and Sheraton properties in Sicilia?
3. What itinerary\websites would you recommend for about 5-8 days there?
There's a Holiday Inn in Palermo - from there you would have easy access to the north western side of the island - Trapani, Erice, Monreale. If you can, why not divide your time different places? Siracusa's a must - really lovely, you could easily spend a few days there, a couple at least to explore the town itself and another to visit some surrounding places - Noto and Ragusa maybe. Catania will give you good access to Mt Etna and Taormina and some charming towns and villages nearby.
Lots of information on various Sicily pages here on VT.
Kamarina is not easy to get to without a car - its a bit out on a limb - the neaerst town is Marina di Ragusa and from there is decent public transport, at least in season.
The Holiday Inn Express in Siracusa is in the industrial zone near the petrochemical refinery and is not pleasant. But if its just a palce to sleep you will need a car to visit Siracusa and other places in the area.
Kamarina is a good base for Ragusa, Donnafugata, Modica. Siracusa means you can visit Noto, the Vendicari reserve and Ortigia. It all depends what you want to do....
If you stay in Catania there is enough to see and it gives you the chance to visit Siracusa, Etna, Taormina etc... .
