The famous (almost mythical) spring(invible other than some ripples) feeds a pond built in 1843 containing fish, ducks, papyrus plants and an old ficus tree. The water outflow is into the Porto Grande next to it, which is separated from it by a terrace which leads to a promenade and a viewpoint. Looking S. you can see the Castello Maniace.I have been told that a recent earthquake has contaminated the water table of the once pure spring water with seepage of sea water. No matteer ! We cannot drink it anyway, only sightsee.
