We are a mother and a daughter who stayed at the Hotel Miramare et Estrangers in August 2009. During the first period of our stay we found that hotel met all our expectations. It is a beautiful building with an excellent location, spotlessly clean rooms and friendly staff. However, on the last evening, we experienced that one of the male employees followed after one of us (the daughter) into the womens’ toilet, grabbed her by the arm, and tried to kiss her. She pulled him away, and he went out of the toilet. A few minutes later, a second male employee came into the toilet, again grabbing her and tried to kiss her. The whole incidence was experienced as threatening and very unpleasant. We have been in contact with the hotels’ manager several times, demanding an apology for this incidence, which has not been given, since the two male employees involved in the incidence denies everything. Further, the manager has refused to take responsibility and apologize for his staff’s behavior unless we report the incidence to the Italian magistrate and they end up with a conclusion after an investigation. Considering that the two men involved already have denied everything, we regard this as a waste of time. We will therefore strongly recommend women travelers to consider another hotel, as such behavior as we experienced is not explicitly been disapproved by the management.
