I think the reason I enjoyed my visit to Siracusa so much was because I didn't expect to find so many things to see. It was one of those last minute trips which didn't give me time to read up on the city or plan my trip. Every sight was a complete surprise.
If you approach Siracusa from water, you'll be impressed by the sight of a very odd building - the Church of Madonna in Tears (unfortunately I don't know its Italian name, I just do a translation into English). Enjoy the panorama of the night town with the Church on the foreground.
The architecture is unique.
