We're a couple with a 2 year old girl and we're planning on spending Easter in Sicily, and we were thinking that perhaps Siracusa is a good choice to spend the week? Or perhaps there are better ways to experience this special holiday season on the island? We're also looking for a suitable holiday rental apartment/villa. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Hi, Siracusa could be a good base to visit Eastern Sicily.
Visit the town and ortigia, and have day trips to Catania, Noto, Taormina.
You can use the train to visit Taormina and Catania http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html, the bus to Noto http://www.interbus.it/
Have you been to Aeolian Islands? is amazing to spend some days over there too.

We were delighted to find that the small, old city of Ortigyia had been decorated with some really pleasing and imaginative Christmas illuminations. These bright and colourful lights added a genuine festive feel to the town and yet were not 'over the top' or gaudy. In true Italian fashion they could be described as very stylish.
