Etna is worth of visiting, absolutely. There is easy to go, byt the place is a real tourist trap.
The last 500 meters with truck costs a lot of money(about 40USD), so instead take good walking shoes and walk up. It will take about one hour or so.
The views are astonishig, like you are in the moon. Rocks everywhere, wind blows and there are many craters(old vulcanos).
I was there at the same day, it 'collapsed'. It was beautiful! Lava-rivers gloved in the night time, and mornings there were ash everywhere.
