When visiting the Parco Archeologico, do take a walk through the adjoining gardens and take a glimpse of the Ear of Dyonisius. Unfortunately it is believed that 7,000 Athenians were killed here after loosing a battle in 413 BC.

A night in Siracusa, streets crowded, views most pleasant and adorned. Feels perfectly fine to be there, walking ancient streets and observing moods and architecture. Every stone had sense of being in the right place.
Of all Sicilian cities Siracusa was my favourite. It deserves attention.
"watching scenes of past"
Once there were Romans... and they left this behind.
Before - After: evidences are imprinted in steps you make. One culture succeede another - and it doesn't stop today. But we are only pilgrims in this time. What we will left behind? Will it be worth to remember?
Among those impressed by Siracusa was maestro Caravaggio, one of the worlds greatest painters. Yet that was completely another time in history - Sicilia was his refuge.
"streets are for pleasure"
... and people here seem to be aware of it very well. It is pleasure to walk in such places.
