We need to get to the Catania airport by 6AM! Does anyone know the best (and inexpensive) way to get their from Toarmina? We would like to not have to get a hotel for our last night in Catania if possible. I hear d the bus may be best to get right ot airport or a "taxi"
Any advise would be appreciated.

We stayed at Giardini Naxos and got the bus from Catania Airport...took over an hour. From Taormina probably 1.5 hours...don't think there will be a bus service at 4:30 am. Taxi maybe the only option. Be warned that most transport services in the area are always later than the advertised time....so allow plenty of time between connections...no tight schedules?? good luck.
P.S.oops ...Interbus was the company we used "google" will find an interactive planner.
While descending you can admire beautiful views. You can wonder as well downstairs along the shallow and clear waters of the river. However climbing polished lava stones might be dangerous, they are really slippery, they hard to climb with bare feet.
HOW TO GET THERE: Driving from the South to the North along SS114 just a kilometer before Giardini Naxos turn left following the signs of Gole.
Near Gole there is parking, small restaurant and cafe.
It's said to be first greek colony in this reagion of Sicily. It's a town right under the feet of Taormina along the sea, now full of hotels and restaurants. If you are going by car in Taormina, I'd reccomend you to stay there in a hotel, as it's right at the sea and Taormina is very close. It's quite a touristic place, probably thanks to popularity of Taormina.
Giardini Naxos is also archeological digs locality (for sure not under your hotel window :)), as the ancient city used to be there, you will find also a museum. The name of Gardens probably comes from cultivation of special trees years ago. For the rest it's a lovely place to stay with many hotels to choose from and very close to the sea.
Basically all the panorama you see from Taormina 9th april square down the bay at your right is Giardini Naxos.
