My husband and I are thinking of renting in Toarmina in Feb. and March of 2011. How cold does it get and does it eliminate some outdoor activities? I appreciate any help I can get.
Due to extreme climatic changes the World is experiencing at the moment, trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local, on the day variations.
Most places now are seeing weather conditions well outside the norm.

It's not warm, and is often on the rainy side that time of year, but as a person who's spent time living in places like Chicago and Milwaukee, I definitely don't think the temperature really prohibits outdoor activities....Maybe it's not beach season or the time to get a tan but walking around doing things is still nice as ever.
February in Sicily can be a bit miserable. If we have the Bora - the north easterly coming down from the Balkans it will be cold and windy and foul - usually it lasts for 10 days. It will be wet. Spring arrives in early March
You see these little 3-wheelers very often round Taormina. There are mostly elderly people driving them, i think you don't need a license to drive them.
they are used to transport all kind of things and are even used to go to church or shopping.
You an hear them from miles away when they crawl up the hills as their little engine havn't got much power.
Of course you need to go down to the beach. There is a very long beach from Taormina-Mare to Mazzaro, great for a walk or a swimm.
At eastertime it is not always warm enogh to have a swimm :-(
