Hotel Ariston - Central & Quiet Hotel
Hotel Ariston and Palazzo Santa Caterina is located at the bottom of the ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina, amidst a century-old park with stunning views over the Mediterranean sea. I had heard mixed reviews about this large 4 star hotel but the deal we got for 5 nights here was hard to ignore. I needn't have worried. The hotel staff were most welcoming, they collected our luggage for us and had it sent up to our room - there are a few steps to go up from the bus station which is just below the hotel so its a real handy location - the airport bus stops right here.
Reception staff were most helpful in organising an Etna trip for us and enquiring about car hire on our behalf. We had booked just breakfast - hot and cold American style but also had the option to have the buffet evening meal for 15 euros extra - a good feast of soup, salads, pasta courses, main course and then desert and cheese if you can manage all that! Good value and quality tut not for every night!
Cost for room was £260 for a double for 5 nights with Octopus travel.
Unique Quality: Our room was of a decent size, plenty of room for the baggage, fridge with mini-bar, safe etc..
Room furniture not the most modern but the tiled bathroom (full suite and hair dyer) was modern (looked like it had been updated recently) with a good power shower over the bath.
We did not have a balcony but a shared terrace with our own sun loungers and chairs and table - the views out over the sea were lovely and with the sun in the morning was wonderful to wake up and just step outside to admire the view.

Suggestions for Hotels in Italy
Hi! I'm travelling to Italy in mid-December and booked hotels for our stay.
I was wondering if any of you fellow travellers have been to these hotels, and what comments or suggestions you have for us. We will do most of our travelling by train, so we tried to arrange for hotels that are esaily accessible by public transportation.
