My cruise comes into messina at 12:00 and departs at 6:00pm I am trying to see if There is a bus system between the 2 places or a taxi etc also the distance between. If possible i would like to stop for a few moments at a village called savoca somewhere between but It isnt a must. thnx in advance for your time..David:)

`I know there is taxi service right from the port and the distance to Taormina is about 30 miles. So, you could have at least 3 hours in Taormina.

Hi ! When we were in Taormina in April we used a taxi tour service at 'www.sicilylife.com' There number is 0039 3284137533. They use nice airconditioned vans and they primarily do tours. But as we found out a taxi trip is the same price as a tour so we combined getting from A- B with a tour in between! Ask for a driver named 'Nicola' he was really great. Just get them to give you a quote on what you want to do. An example straight taxi fare from a taxi company is; Taormina to Catania 80 euros! Milazzo to Catania 120 euros. they are not cheap.

Of course it's the main archeological attraction of the town. And my advice is to visit it first.
The theatre was built by Greeks and then transformed and enlarged by Romans. It's rather big by size, however I don't know how many people can be seated there.
The theatre has an outstanding location and one can spotted a lot of beautiful views from out there. Especially from the top of auditorium visitors can absorb the full impact of panoramic view and with the bright weather one can admire the sight of mount Etna with its summit covered in snow.
The theatre is still used for performing and it will be a real luck if you manage to see something there.

Beautiful Taormina

Although Taormina is very touristic, you really shouldn't miss this town. There are plenty of little paved streets, shops, cafes and the view is amazing.

It is also worthwhile to look up, there are lots of nice balconies, with bright pink/red/white flowers.
