Driving a scooter in Taormina

How is the street that connects Taormina-center with the sea-area (Mazzarò) and Giardini Naxos?I'd want to rent a 125cc scooter to explore easily the area,durin the night too...is it very dangerous?Are there a lot of scooters on the streets?

There were certainly a lot of locals zipping around Taormina itself on scooters when I was last there.

The road down to the coast is quite steep in places with sharp bends. I wouldn't want to drive a car on it, let alone ride a scooter (but I'm a coward). The coast road between Mazzaro and Giradini Naxos should be OK, if you are an experienced rider.

Of course u can drive a scooter in Mazzarò, Taormina and Giardini. Enough safe, quiet and u'll escape from car traffic!!!

How to Order food

Ordering food in Sicily is a bit unusual for us. You order the Starter first, and for the main course you order the meat, vegetable and side order sepperatly!!

In Taormina the menu cards are available in italian and normaly english and german.

Of course some red vine (you will be fine with the house vine normaly) belongs to any meal like the espresso afterwards.

On the menu card you will always find a price called "coperto" this price you pay anyway and is for the cover and the bread you get on the table.

Walk up to Castelmola

Have a walk up to the village of Castelmola. It looks like a long way to get up there, but after about an hour you are there. If you don't like walking there is a bus.

Castelmola is built on top of a hill overlooking Taormina, the sea and the whole surrounding area. It is very nice to stroll through the narrow streets of the place.

There are several paths up there, they are signposted.
