A Horrible Experience
We were looking forward to our weekend away in Trapani. Arriving at Il Sole Blu it didn't start well as we were greeted by a horrible smell in the stairwell of raw sewage.
Our room was not ready and the trimmings were sadly in a poor state of presentation. The smell from outside, although distant, still persisted in the establishment and before we could speak to the owner for our money back, which he insisted must be paid in cash in advance, he had already left the premises.
Equipped with a can if air spray from a local supermarket we tried to make do but awoke during the night to the sound, and biting of mosquitoes. However many we killed (over 60) we couldn't get rid of the them and have subsequently counted over 90 bites on the two of us.
While it was possible to overlook for a short stay the poor quality of the furnishings and trimmings after our experience with the mosquitoes there was absolutely no way we could stay another minute in Il Blue Sol. Its it unclean, basic, and we felt dirty and violated.
The smell has been mentioned elsewhere in the reviews and is cannot be unknown to the owner, nor the mosquito problem judging by the marks on the walls. That Il Sole Blue continues to trade without having corrected these faults is terrible and possibly expains the motives of the owner demanding full cash payment in advance.
My advice to anyone considering this B&B is to look elsewhere. The location is poor and you can do so much better for the same amount of money elsewhere in Trapani. Do NOT be taken in by the photos or offer of facilities. This is a awful B&B and was a horrible experience for us both.
It was horrific experience and upon daylight we immediately left the establishment and found better lodgings elsewhere.
Unique Quality: Smell and Mosquitoes. Early morning alarm by people ringing the front door bell. Improves fitness by being so far from the old city.

Good location, smells of sewage
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and rang the manager as there was no answer from the bell. He told us to wait outside, which we did. Half an hour later a woman walks up the road and opens the door without a word she waited inside the door for us then silently walked up to our room. She opened the door and turned and walked back out without saying anything. Not a good start.
The hall of the building smelt of raw sewage and the room smelled worse.
There was a "balcony" about 4 foot wide and 6 foot long which looked onto another building. The room was spacious but was always dark as the room was towered over by buildings.
The next morning the manager rang looking for his money, he gave me 7 slips of paper with his initials on them which he explained were breakfast tokens to eat in the nearby cafe. He took the money and that was the last I saw (Not heard) from him.
The breakfast cafe was an experience... The place was full of people who were more than happy to stare at us while we drank our espresso and chewed on our cardboard croissants while the noisy slot machines in the corner digested coins at an alarming rate from the pocket of the resident gamblers.
We were the only guests staying on the corridor that is Il Sol Blu until about Thursday. Then we found that the walls were paper thin and that our bedroom was right next to their toilet (I'll leave that to your imagination). We went to bed early on the Thursday night only to receive a phone call from the manager AT 3AM to tell me that the other guests were locked out and I would have to open the door for them. When I opened the door I recognised one of the guests to be the man who served us our cardboard croissants in the cafe around the corner.
Unique Quality: The location of the sewage-treatment plant that is this B&B is just fine, close to everything but it's just not worth it. If it was a quarter of the price I was charged than it wouldn't be worth it.
Don't say you weren't warned.......
