Scooter ?
I will be visiting Trapani too in a week's time . Interested in renting a scooter for 2 days to visit close by places like Capo San Vito and Erice.
-- How is weather in these days? Will it be ideal to drive around on 2 wheels ?
-- Is it worth to travel with it to these places?

If I were you I would hire a car.
beside all, Trapani and S.Vitolocapo are not so close, about 40Km
Beware because there are often speed radar working in that area, you could take a fine also with scooter 50cc

Well weather seems to be pretty bad at the moment, with thunderstorm and lots of rain!
I guess you won't be able to ride a scooter if this weather persists!

Weather is really unpredictable lately. Two days ago it looked almost like the end of the world in the Trapani and Palermo area, with lots of delays on the airports, trains unable to functions, highways blocked...In the end all depends on how lucky you are, are in January with help from the sirocco wind we were able to enjoy the sea and 36 degrees!
About driving on two wheels, if you're mentally prepared to get wet, then there's no problem :-) Otherwise you could use public transportation.
Erice is worth a detailed visit but you can reach it from Trapani with the cable way: http://www.funiviaerice.it/index.php?lang=en and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view.
The islands (Favignana etc.) are easy to reach from the harbor but is all about the weather.
San Vito is great in the summer but that's not much life left in the autumn so I think you could skip it and rather visit Marsala.
