Guesthouse Arco: Quiet, Lovely Modern Apt's from an Old Farmhouse

Hans-Martin and his wife Gilda, both from Germany, own and operate two "guesthouse" apartments here in Arco. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The apartments are lovely - Gilda has taken great care to retain as much as possible of the old farmhouse in the remodeling. We stayed at Guesthouse II in apartment 4. (Please note that the website is inaccurate about this particular apartment - it only has 2 bedrooms, not 3 as the layout appears to show.)

The only caution I would have is there are no window screens to keep out bugs (not unusual in Italy - the Italians don't like screens because they think they are ugly). That means if you wanted the windows open at night (and you will in the summer), you need to sleep inside the mosquito netting hung over each bed. We found it helped to spread some cintronella on the seams, and to be sure you've tucked in all the edges.

Hans-Martin is a rockclimbing / mountaineering guide - and was incredibly helpful during our stay here.

For example, all our luggage was lost - which meant none of our climbing gear made it. Hans-Martin LENT us all the equipment we needed - ropes, harnesses, shoes, quickdraws, biners, EVERYTHING! And this was not the only one of his kindnesses to us. He made literally a dozen phone calls trying to help us get our luggage back - at his own expense.

Everything was clean, modern and fresh - including a dishwasher. They do not change the towels or linens during your week-long stay - you have to pay extra for that.

Unique Quality: Lovely accomodations, and for the price (90E per night for four people) you can't beat it!
