Ortler mountains
by Patje
Mountains dot many parts of the of South Tyrol landscape. Many of these mountains belong to the Alps, which extend through many Central European nations. In this mountain chain, there is a smaller group called the Ortler Alps. In this group, which is considered the centre of the Italian Alps, there is a mountain called the Ortler, which rises 3 905 m above sea level, and is the highest peak in the Ortler Alps.

"SULDEN TOWN at 1900 m."
The holiday at sulden was one of the best we had in the alps. The town at 1900 m is a nice place to be.
We remain there for two weeks in a apartment (photo), and we shall return sometime later.
There are nice walks to make and the nature is beautiful.
Let us make a trip!
The Ortler region in summer
The Ortler region with the villages Sulden, Trafoi, Stilfserjoch, Gomagoi and Stilfs extends from 1300 m to 3400 m altitude.Starting in green meadows the famous Stilfserjoch street leads on the sunny side up to the high mountains. A special attraction for guests is Sulden, the new home of Tibet Yaks of Reinhold Messner. They are ideal for taking a photograph. There is also a small museum "Alpine Curiosa" of reinhold Messner: open every day from 9 a. m. to 8 p. m.
At Trafoi you find the pilgrimage place "Hl. 3 Brunnen" (3 fountains). For credents the water heals.
Sulden Trafoi Stilfs Gomagoi
