Duomo - inside: architecture
by Mikebond
The inside of the cathedral consists of a nave and two aisles. When you enter, you realize at once that this is a Gothic church: a lot of light, ogival vaults arches, high columns, many decorations. The apsis has very high (Gothic!) painted windows by Guillaume de Marcillat (early 16th century). Unfortunately, you can't see the decorations in the last image of this tip because the photo was taken against the light, I suppose.
jayhawk2000's Arezzo
by jayhawk2000
After a couple of days on our own in Venice, Christian and I joined friends who had rented a farmhouse near Arezzo in Tuscany.
The farmhouse snuggled amidst cyprus trees and vinyards in a delightfully isolated spot at the end of a dirt track halfway up a mountain. We were about a 15-minute drive north of Arezzo and were ideally situated for day trips all across Tuscany and Umbria.
It was our first time in Italy and our second self-catering villa holiday and hope to return again and again.
