The Alpino Hotel and Restaurant: Family owned Hotel and Restaurant

While in Barga, we stayed at the Alpine Hotel and Restaurant in the center of Barga. In 1902 the Castelvecchi family opened this establishment, and that family still owns and manages it.

All their literature boasts of treating "you as a guest rather than a client, and the atmosphere is intended to be more that of a home rather than a hotel." I must say, they do a good job of keeping that proclamation. They speak very little English, but they manage very well with satisfying the needs of the guests.

All rooms [9 in total] have en-suite bathrooms, telephones, televisions, air conditioning, and two rooms have large outdoor terraces. In addition there is an elevator, restaurant, and a wine bar.

Unique Quality: The best qualities of this hotel:

Small and intimate.

Well located in the center of town so one can walk to shops, sites, and restaurants.

Friendly, efficient staff.
