Same as before: Cock-a-doodle-doo
Unique Quality: So there I was, wandering the aforesaid pathway when I was assailed by a cacophany of fowl noises. No doubt anticipating my hands would soon dispense feed (were they to be disappointed!) all I could do was look at them and reminisce about my childhood and the joys of owning chooks as we used to.
The fresh eggs, the little chickens, the ones who suffered beheading and ran around the yard thus for a minute or two before keeling over. This used to be a part of my life, though it is fair to suggest that I am only too happy to leave any killing to the factories these days.
Still, the morning meander is wonderful for the soul, graced with the views of the nearby hillside castle, the twitter of the early birds and the budding green of the vineyard and, no better place to do that than in springtime Tuscany.

La Pievuccia: Tuscan farm stay
The Papini family, local vignerons in their spare time, along with looking after the chooks and other assorted animals, have broadened their horizons by establishing a B&B.
Unique Quality: It you're looking for that authentic Tuscan experience, then you could do worse than spend a few nights here.
The rooms, all ground floor, are a part of the same building in the valley that looks up to, of all things, a castle sat proud above the grape vines. The Castello di Montecchio to be precise. Still in a good state of repair as well.
The amount of room in the accommodation isn't huge but certainly spacious enough for a couple and everything you would normally expect is there. The bathroom is big enough to swing a cat around, unlike some others I've stayed in, and, if you don't believe me, you can always grab the resident cat (a genuine fat cat) by the tail and find out for yourself.
The family is friendly; though, depending on who's around at the time, English may not be the language of choice. Apparently, the matriarch is fluent but unfortunately she was in hospital at the time.
I can recommend their wine but, if you want to try it yourself, you are more than welcome to sample first.
