More about Hotel Villa Marsili

Loved Villa Marsili

by TripAdvisor Member NJMaria

I have such great memories of Villa Marsili and we truly enjoyed ourselves.

Cortona is a very pretty area of Italy and the Villa Marsili is the perfect place to stay to be in town and yet have the most magnificent view of the entire valley. The rooms are lovely, each individually decorated with antique and period furniture. They are all updated, very clean and extremely charming. The suites are particularly nice with the most magnificent bathrooms and breathtaking views. It is well worth the difference in price and adds to the overall experience.

Villa Marsili is one of many beautiful hotels in the area. However, the reason we chose to stay here is not only for its prime location and beauty, but the friendly reception that we received from the staff from our very first contact by email to throughout our visit. They gave us a warm welcome and were there to help us with all our needs. They were all so very hospitable starting with the lovely breakfast in the morning to an early evening daily reception with refreshments and canapes.

We'd like to thank Stefano again, along with Elisabeth, Iulia and Mierko for the friendly welcome that we received and for all of their assistance that made our stay so very special.

Villa Marsili -- A Must Stay in Cortona!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member braden72

We just returned from beautiful Cortona in Tuscany and wanted to recommend Villa Marsili. Situated within the ancient city of Cortona, Villa Marsili is a charming hotel overlooking the countryside. What made our experience, however, was the hotel staff. Julia and Stefano were incredibly welcoming and helpful --- booking wine tasting tours and dinner reservations for us. If you are ever visiting Cortona, stop by for a visit!

Elegance in Cortona

Recently returned from a two week trip to Italy, where we concluded our visit in Cortona. We chose the Villa Marsili based upon the reviews on this site, and we were very pleased with that decision.
The Villa Marsili is not an ordinary hotel, given the quality of the restoration and the rich furnishings,it truly has the feel of a villa.
Both the evening cocktails and the breakfast buffet are a cut above the usual. We appreciated the modern bathrooms.
We travelled in a party of 8 ,and had a number of transportation needs. The manager and the staff could not have tried harder to fulfill our requirements. They were also helpful with restaurant reservations. We particularly enjoyed La Bucacia and Trattoria Toscana.
We felt like we saved the best for the end of our trip...Villa Marsili

Lovely place in a lovely city

by TripAdvisor Member ExperiencedTravelers

This hotel is located at the entrance of the city. The room was a decent size and very clean. Breakfast was well presented and, while not lavish, very adequate. The person at the front desk (Julia) could not have been more pleasant and helpful; every hotel should have a Julia. I have stayed in many fine hotels around the world - this one is a hidden treasure!

A patch of heaven

My wife and i stayed at the Villa Marsilli in early july of 2007. We were on a 16 day vacation to Italy, including Rome, Sorrento, Capri and Cortona. The Villa Marsilli was far and away the best experience of our trip.

From the moment we entered we were made to feel at home. The staff is simply perfect, professional, friendly and knowledgable. I simply cannot rave enough about Julia, she helped us plan anything we mentioned to her. She was simply the best of a wonderful staff.

The hotel itself is spotless and beautiful. Located on the hillside at the bottom of Cortona the view out of our hotel window was simply breathtaking. The room itself was very large and also spotless. The cleaning staff was unobtrusive and very quick, darting in and out of the room whenever we were out. I never saw them but our room was always fresh.

The breakfast was very good. The wonderful dining room only enhanced the breakfasts we shared there. There was fresh fruits, breads, meats, cheeses and cereals all of it made for a great beginning to each day. In the evening the bartender Mirko was very friendly and made the end of the day as wonderful as the beginning.

Clean, Quiet, Accomodating. Perfect in Cortona

Stayed for 2 nights towards the end of our honeymoon. Great location in Cortona, close to city center. Excellent staff, very attentive. Very nice complementary cocktail in the evening, nice seating area in front of hotel with view of valley/lake. Only complaint, and I know it is cliche for an American to complain about bathing in Europe but, the shower may be the worst design in Italy. Thought I might drown.
