Land of Olives
by cjg1
One of the wonderful experiences of Tuscany was walking through the olives groves of the villa. Actually seeing and feeling the trees that produce such wonderful olives for the oil we so enjoy was amazing. We will definitely come back one FAll for the olive harvest.
Under the Tuscan Sun
by SFHulaGIrl
If you know anything about Under the Tuscan Sun, then you’ve heard of Cortona, a cliffside 12th century village located 63 miles southeast of Florence. The bus to Cortona takes you up winding roads above terraced olive groves to find narrow cobblestoned streets lined with trattorias, cafes, and little shops selling mainly artwork and ceramics. In the book, Frances Mayes writes of the buying and renovating of her Italian villa, Bramasole, in Tuscany. She describes her daily rituals and her observations on the Italian lifestyle in a vibrant and compelling manner. The book will make you want to run away to Tuscany and to Cortona in particular – I did!!
