Looking over the vale from the Piazza del Duomo the first thing that smacks you in the eye is the local cemetery.
It never ceases to amaze me just how elaborate many of them are and how much money is allocated to those who have passed on. It seems the poorer the countryside the more they spend.
Living a Tuscan Dream

Cortona is a beautiful hillside town in Tuscany. I'm am fortunate through Liz's relatives to say I now have family here. Her Aunt Melva and Uncle Giacomo have a magnificent Villa. I had heard about the Villa and seen pictures but nothing could decribe how incredible it is in person.
Their villa is set into the hills outside of the town. They have beautiful property with olive groves, fruit orchards, grapes, figs, a great pool and even a chapel on the property. Inside the house is decorated meticulously from the main floor to the third floor. I was amazed at the beautiful antique furniture and accents.*
rtona was a beautiful place to stay with wonderful food and wine. The food was heavenly especially the fresh vegetables, gelato, olive oil and cheeses. The wine was superb and we left with many bottles tucked in our suitcases. The people of Cortona are so friendly and welcoming; it was such a pleasure to be here.
