Galleria Nazionale

by jadams46

We bought a painting (800 euro or $1025 U.S.) on Oct. 5, 2006 from the following location as indicated on the gallery's business card:
Galleria Nazionale di Bruno Cosignani
Direttore - Gian Luca Cosignani
Via Nazionale, 4 presso Palazzo Alticozzi
52044 Cortona - AR
Tel. 0575 605184. Her e-mail is www.alticozzigallery.com
Her website is info@alticozzigallery.com
The painting was to be sent to arrive at our home in the U.S. by Nov. 1. E-mails we've sent to the gallery will not go through, and we are notified that the e-mail address and website cannot be contacted. Do you know this gallery and how we can contact it? Send reply to jadams46@cfl.rr.com. Thank you.

Have you tried telephoning the gallery?

Phoning is a good idea. However, the mail in Italy is notoriously slow so I don't think I'd worry too much for another month. (I would phone though!)

Good luck.

And this may be the address of the owner of the gallery:

Once again, good luck
Francesco

I wonder if you are dialing the phone number correctly. You would need to dial 011-39-575-605184 if you are calling from the USA to Italy.

The 011 is the international number
The 39 is the code for Italy
You need to leave off the initial zero from the given number unless you are dialing withing Italy.

If you already know this, I apologize.

We have bought paintings from this gallery two separate times and received them without a problem. It did take a while and the paintings did not arrive when we expected them.

Hoping to see you get resolution- it looks like you'll be OK based on previous posts experience with this business. Yes, the italian post... Here in NE Italia, I've recieved mail from the states faster than from Milano!

Travel Tips for Cortona

Shopping

by iandsmith

There is a shop simply called Galleria on the via Nazionale, just west of the tourist office. I wholly recommend you call in there. The eclectic mix of works from candles to paintings to photography to sculptures is complemented by an ancient well in the downstairs section.
I thoroughly enjoyed half an hour in here (without buying anything) but if you've some loose change to get rid of, you could do whole lot worse than go in here to spend it.

Monastery of Saint Francis

by cjg1

The monastery of St. Francis was a nice walk from Liz's family's villa. The monastery is very old and draws both religious and non-religious visitors. The stone ctructures are impressive and there is a peaceful feeling as we walked through. We stopped into the chapel to see where St. Francis lived and prayed. It was a small room...smaller than the smallest closet I have seen. The grounds are very hilly and ful of trees and shrubery but make for a nice hike. We hiked back to the villa which was a bit exhausting since a majority of it was rocky and uphill in the heat.

The monastery seems to be a haven for the cats of the area and they liked to lounge on the numerous rock structures and walls. They were friendly but I wasn't touching them. I let Liz have her fill of petting them followed by some serious hand sanitizer.
