Santa Crocce
by pili
This church contains frescos by Giotto, many tombstones and commemorative monuments, including those of Galileo, Rossini, Macchiavelli's tomb, and Vasari's monument to Michelangelo, who died in Rome but was brought to Florence to be buried here, by Cosimo I. The collection of art in this church complex is by far the most important of any church in Florence. In my opinión, this church is the most beautiful in Florence. -

Italian Breakfast - Cappuccino and croissant
by fgfi
One of the most common habits in Italy and in Florence too is having brakfast at the bar. Cappuccino (remember Italians never order cappuccino after a meal) and croissant. Here is a list of my favourite bars (in terms of quality of breakfast):

We took a couple of fantastic bike rides through the Tuscan Chianti wine region. They were two of the best days of the trip. Great scenary and away from the crowds. The trips were led by a company called 'I Bike Italy'.
Its Not New Orleans
by Jmill42 about The Jazz Club
Being from New Orleans, I realize I am a jazz snob. Being inundated with excellent jazz does that to you. So, it was no surprise to me that the jazz here was average for my taste. However, the people I went with thoroughly enjoyed the music, and we all had a good time at this club, so all's well that ends well! The club is situated downstairs underground, and the people at the entrance will try to tell you that you have to be a member to enter. Just say that you are from out of town and are only here one night, and just like most of Italy, rules are bent.
The drinks here were amazingly strong, so much so that I coughed the first time I had a sip of mine. Strong and cheap; perfect. Now, if they could import NOLA musicians... Jeans are fine, but nice shirts.
Best Pizza in Florence
by ElJuezGuapo about il Piizzaiuolo
We stayed in a swapped apartment in Florence, and our host was kind enough to make us a list of "must go" restaurants and bars. OK, I don't know if it is the best pizza in Florence, as I didn't try all of the places there. But it was the best pizza I ever had, and the place was jammed every night. Saw nobody there but locals and their families. And stragely, beer was the big beverage, not wine.
It is "il Pizzaiuolo" an osteria. It is subtitlted " muzzarell, pummarola, core e fatica so e Napule" You can call ahead for reservations or drop in and make one for the following night. Phone is 055/241171 (tell 'em "El Juez Guapo" sent you.
Located at Via De Macci 133r. 5 minute walk from Santa Croce. Closed Sunday. Check it out. Try any pizza, and pay the $2 surcharge for muzzarella della bufala. Do not ask for "mozerella della bufulO" unless you are a big fan of the Farally Brothers' move "Kingpin". If you don't get this joke, you have very sophisticated taste, thank you. If you do get the joke, excellent!!!!!!!
