This hotel is a piece of heaven and absolutely breathe taking!! Our room was spacious, spotless, beautifully decorated, and very QUIET!! The staff was very helpful and gave us several suggestions of place to eat and visit. They have a great breakfast
A dingy disappointment
by TripAdvisor Member Shyster951
Overall, we would urge others to stay elsewhere. After reading all about how much of a 'jewel' this place was elsewhere in tripadvisor.com, my family was very disappointed in the 2 rooms we reserved (Rooms 1 & 4). Primarily because the place needs refreshing and, for the price, there are better alternatives that are actually closer to the sights of Florence.
For example, the door to our bathroom wouldn't close because it rubbed against the floor. We pushed it past that point and the door wouldn't stay closed. The paint in the rooms needs to be redone as it shows scuff marks and the like from prior tenants.
Oh, and the bathtowels provided are no more than what I'm used to seeing in the kitchen to dry dishes with: thin, linen towels.
Breakfast has no meat, though there was a decent assortment of breads, yogurt, juice & coffee. Only thing is it is not set out until 8:30, and we were usually up and gone by then.
Bed was comfortable. A nice touch is the combo TV-DVD player (roughly a 13 inch screen) and the assortment of say 15-20 DVD's to watch.
Room 1 overlooks a street and is noisy. Also, it is right off of the common are room where they serve breakfast.
We were so unimpressed that we actually interrupted out busy tour schedule and looked into switching to another place.
We found a VERY nice alternative (Hotel Roma) that is a 4 star hotel and whose rooms were actually 6 Euros/night cheaper & it is right in the prime area - just near the Santa Maria Novella church. Only problem was no internet access except through dial-up: no broadband let alone wireless. That is something my family requires so we can make and confirm reservations, research things to do, etc. without the cost of making calls or surfing the web from our cell phones.
For the price we paid (125 Euros/room/night) there are more pleasant places closer to where you'll be going (Duomo, Accademia, etc.)
What a wonderful find!

We just returned from a 9 day trip to Italy which included Rome, Florence and Venice. We spent 3 nights at the Antica Dimora Firenza at the beginning of March. We had a lovely stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
This room was the best value of all the places that we stayed while visting Italy. We paid 95 Euro. Please be advised that they do not accept credit cards, but they do accept travelers checks and do not charge any fees to cash them.
The room was huge by European Standards that boasted a king-sized canopy bed. It was so romantic! The shower was also great. The room rate includes a good breakfast including pastries, cheese, cereal and yogurt. We especially enjoyed the sitting area in the evenings, where tea, Vin Santo and biscotti were provided.
This property is a short walk to all of the sites which allowed us to see other areas besides the main tourist attractions. I would definitely recommend this property if you are visiting Florence.
Good Little Find

We just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and found it to be very accomodating. Readers need to know that this is really almost an apartment like hotel with 6 rooms. When you enter the building, you feel as if you are walking into an apartment building. The hotel is on the second floor. This threw me off initially. However, our room was fairly spacious for Europe with a lovely bathroom and small terrace. The bed was the most comfortable we encountered throughout our various stays in Italy. We found the hotel very quiet however, if you are unfortunate enough to have inconsiderate travelers staying anywhere in this hotel, it would be extremely disruptive as everything is very close.
Breakfasts were average - cakes, cereals, yogurt, coffee - enough to get you going for the day. Several of the front desk people were a little scattered and lost track of what they were requested to do. One of the restaurant recommendations they gave was poor so we went on our own after night one. Overall, this little place grew on me as the days passed and I would not hesitate to stay here again, especially for the price.
What an excellent find

After travelling for a few hours we were greeted with a warm welcome from the lady on the reception who showed us to our beautiful room (Room 5). It was at the back of the property and had a charming little balcony. The ensuite bathroom was delightful with a fabulous shower. It was all lovely and clean and fresh towels each day. There are only six rooms in total at this hotel and it is on the second floor (there is a lift), and therefore it has a really inimate cosy feel.
Tea and coffee is available in the comfortably furnished reception area, where there is also a fabulous 'continental' breakfast buffet available in the morning. Most mornings we took a tray through to our balcony and ate breakfast there. I think Room 5 is the only one with a balcony and so we felt very lucky!
The receptionists were more than helpful and full of excellent advice
for places to eat including 'Pepo' which is close by. They were also very helpful when it came to booking taxi's by phone too. I managed to leave behind an expensive bag but one of the ladies on reception (who is also a teacher and can speak German and English as well as her native Italian), was really kind and has sent it back to me with no problems at all. Excellent personal service.
The hotel is in an ideal situation and only a 10 minute gentle stroll gets you to most of the main attractions, the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella, Uffuzi etc.
This is a fabulous gem of a hotel and we would recommend it to all our friends and would have no hesitation in returning there.
Very pleasnt stay

We liked it very much. After a depressing journey from London to Florence by train and arriving nearly 5 hours late, it was lovely to go into this warm welcoming apartment and be shown our beautiful room with everything needful in it - plenty of room to put clothes, guide books and eveything, smart bathroom area with lots of towels ( unlike another reviewer we found the large table-cloth-like towels perfectly comfortable and effective!) and large comfy bed. We were lucky to be at the back of the building, and in the room with the little balcony, because I imagine rooms at the front will be noisy - via San Gallo is a city street, not a leafy suburb. We also liked the Tuscan Classical radio station piped through to the room, but of course you could turn it off if it didn't suit you!
Breakfast was fine, fresh fruit, yogurt, sliced meat and cheese available as well as cereal and the usual bread and toast. You could make tea and coffee for yourself whenever you wanted, and evening drinks - wine, brandy and other spirits - were laid out for you to help yourself on an "honesty" basis.
Perhaps the nicest thing of all was the friendliness and helpfulness of the various receptionists. They booked museums for us, and seemed to have a real interest in our having a good stay in Florence, and gave us a nice welcome every time we returned to the apartment.
One thing gave us some uneasiness: no staff are in the hotel overnight, and we did wonder about this from a safety aspect. What if a fire? or someone having a heart attack?? Most visitors I would guess are not Italians and probably do not speak much more than phrase-book Italian.
Wonderful experience - warm and friendly

The rooms are decorated with very good taste, the batthrooms very clean and the living room gives a very special feeling, very homy. But above all, the staff is extremely friendly and makes evrything to ensure that you have a wonderful stay. We recommend this address without hesitation.
wonderful homely place to stay in gorgeous Florence
by TripAdvisor Member noonycat
We stayed here for four nights in November and were very happy with the hotel and particularly with the very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and each enquiry was answered with a smile. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and we were not disturbed by traffic noise.
The location is good if you are happy to walk 10-15 minutes into the main part of the city. The walk is easy and flat so it did not cause us any problem. There is an Irish pub across the road which shows some
of the English football games - which kept my fiance happy while I kept shopping. Make sure you arrive with some space in your cases!
