A bit out of the way

Florence has some of the worlds most expensive hotels - after all it is a must-see destination with all the cities art and culture, so where to stay when the budget dictates? A B&B.

Antica Posta is located in a "modernish" building containing some doctors surgeries, apartments and a ground floor kitchen/bathroom showroom. A little difficult to find its located a bit out of the normal tourist route, but worth staying there if you are budget conscious.

Rooms and bathroom are reasonable size and include fridge (ours worked VERY well), large double bed, TV and a small do-it-yourself breakfast - including an electric kettle for tea/coffee (provided).

The B&B is on a main road with a constant buzz of traffic (we stayed in a back room and therefore not subjected to the noise) and is about 10 minutes walk to a supermarket and a range of local rather than tourist shops and restaurants. It is about 15 minutes walk to the main railway station of Florence.

The B&B owner/manager can "negotiate" a slightly better price than published and please note - payment is cash only, no credit cards.

Summery - not-so-good location, but OK for budget conscious travellers.

Lovely Bed & Breakfast

This little place was very comfortable and conveniently located. It is actually a portion of a block of flats but, once inside, one does not have this sense. Despite being located on a very busy street with lots of traffic, it has excellent sound insulation and absolutely no noises get in!

A light breakfast is provided which we took advantage of; it includes a hot kettle to make morning coffee or tea. It turned out that Italy does not share Greece's tendency toward small bakery shops and cafes which are to be found around nearly every corner in Greece...so we were pleased to have got this convenience at our bed and breakfast.

At 90 Euros a night (total for two people), we were pleased to with the price for a nice place near the town center.
