Gelato
by Marpessa
I think Firenze has the best gelato that I have EVER tasted! When I was in Firenze the weather changed from nice and sunny to a bit cold and raining – but no matter the weather it was always a good time for gelato. And it’s not just that Firenze has great gelato it’s that they give you so much (in comparison to, let’s say, Rome) for a fairly good price. I remember my friends and I getting gelato and then going and sitting near the open air museum in Piazza della Signoria. Three scoops of ice-cream, I can’t remember now what I asked for, but I bet it included fragola (strawberry), all in a very large cone. It was too much and none of us were able to finish our gelato. I mean, just look at the picture and tell me that doesn’t make your mouth water.
View I

I took few pictures from Piazzalle Michelangelo - I think you can get the best view of Florence right there.
On this picture you can see the river Arno, Palazzo Vecchio on the left and Duomo, Campanile & Baptistry on the right.
san Miniato al Monte
by seagoingJLW
You must go up to San Miniato al Monte. the view of Firenze is exceptional. The church itself , of Florentine Romanesque architecture, is full of mosaics, columns and the frescos of the Life of Saint Benedict* by Spinello Aretino.
The church is located above Piazzale Michelangelo, south of the Arno, at:
Via del Monte alle Croci at Viale Galileo Galilei.
Sleeping in Florence
by alcalacurro about Hostels
If you´re going to sleep in Florence I recommend you going to the Youth Hostel situated in the east of the city. If you´re in the train station, take a bus and when you arrive there you´ll nedd walking one kilometre more-less in a park. The hostel was made in renacentist times but is has been restaurated. There are many youth people around 20´s besides older people. Breakfast is simple but ok and you can take it in the grass.
Yes, is really interesting visiting it thouth you don´t think sleeping there.
Eating in Florence the Cheap Way!
by sunchasers about Zoe
In Oltarno, heading along river from Ponte Vecchio to Piazza Michelangelo, you'll find a few out of the way pubs. One of these is Zoe. It's relaxed, has an ample drink menu and best of all free food. One nice things about Florence is that many of the pubs and wine bars offer free food if you drink there. Zoe had 3-4 different types of cold pasta dishes to choose from as well as chips and a veggie platter. It's a great way of eating light and drinking well in the florentine sun.....all for just a few euro.
