A must-see!
The Duomo-
Even without studying it in Art History books, just the size of this mammoth cathedral is awe-inspiring. Brunesleschi did himself, and the city of Florence proud, with the massive dome that crowns the main cathedral.

We have a very early flight out of Florence on our last day in Tuscany, and I was wondering if anyone knows the closest hotel/place to stay to the airport.
Thanks!
I don't but I am planning a trip to Tuscany in April. Are you going to post a review of your trip and tips somewhere?
If you are leaving from Florence's real airport (and not Pisa, which some discount airlines call "Florence"), note that the airport is fairly close to the city center - less than 6 kilometers (3.5 miles).
For this reason, I don't see any reason not to stay in the city center in the hotel of your choice, have a great last evening in Florence, then have a taxi pick you up at your hotel about 2 or so hours before your flight. The trip to the airport - especially at that hour - should be only 15 minutes. And if Florence airport is like most Italian airports at a very early hour, you don't need to be there 2 hours in advance...because half the staff hasn't even arrived yet ;-)

Agree entirely with Bill.
If you are indeed flying from Florence airport proper, then just stay somewhere which appeals in the city centre. It is too close to bother staying any nearer.
www.venere.com is the best site to find Italian hotels, imo....reliable, with good mapping an honest guest reviews. www.booking.com is also good.
But if you are actually flying from Pisa, then just stay in Pisa centre somewhere. Train only takes five (very slowly travelled) minutes from Pisa Centrale station to the airport, and there are also buses and taxis of course.
O, and bbardmx.........welcome to VT!
Rather than waiting for the OPto return and make VT pages/tips, why not look at the existing VT Florence pages? They are already stuffed with detailed information, photos and tips about the city, reaturants, what to see, where to go etc etc etc ........ all written by VT locals and visitors (including me):

Yes, we are flying in and out of Florence itself (FLR). Your replies were very helpful, thank you so much!!

Down in the old crypt of the Duomo we saw this emergency exit. I had to laugh, but I really hope there will never be any emergency with people in panic trying to get in line and climbing up the ladder.
The street where you find all the Italian labels ...and guest what ? Ferragamo has got a whole building which includes a Ferragamo museum ...so its a must for those die hard Ferragamo fans who would run hysterical when they see te label ...
Unfortunately whenI was there the museum was close .
This double storey night club is one of the best in Florence and is popular with an under 30 crowd of locals and tourists. On the first floor there is a karaoke bar; a pub; an american styl bar; and a conversation area. On the second floor there is a dance floor with lasers and a space ship hovering above. This is a great place to go and party the whole night long.
They always take care of their customers. Atmosphere was great. A little bit dark but sweet restaurant. Also their walls have full of nice paintings. All kind of pastas. I ate big portion of fleshy spagetthi with mince. It was tasty. My friend's one also nice.
