Great location!

My boyfriend chose this hotel. I'm not sure what his thought process was but it worked out perfectly. We were in a great location right around the corner from the outdoor shopping strip where literally hundreds of vendors are selling scarfs, leather goods, pottery and other items that tourists like to buy. We walked for about 5 minutes and then we reached the Duomo.

The hotel room was nice. Not a big room but plenty of space for our luggage. The shower was sufficient. And, it wasn't too noisy. Decent breakfast is provided. Make sure to order a cappuccino instead of having the cafe d'Americano (Nescafe).

More about Atlantic Palace

A fine hotel in an Excellent Location

by TripAdvisor Member JCandJC

Of all the hotels we have stayed in during our travels to Europe, the Atlantic Palace is one of the better hotels. When we first checked in, we were initially placed in a front room with street noise from Via Nazionale. The staff later changed our room to an interior room, which was quiet, even when we had to open the windows at night. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom was well-equipped but with a tight shower, but the shower worked very well.

The breakfast area, with its separate buffet room, was one of the most comfortable we've experienced in any hotel in Europe- and this considering the small size of the hotel. The buffet had a wide variety of fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals, breads, pastries and breakfast cold cuts, more than enough food to start your day off with. The coffee was usually strong in the European manner. We never had to wait for a table in the morning.

The location is on the very busy Via Nazionale- a very heavily trafficked street with narrow sidewalks. However, it's only a six minute walk to the train station. And many of Florence's most important sites are well within walking distance.

Florence is a great city full of history and beauty. And the Atlantic Palace is a good place to stay. If you get it in a package, it's a good value as well.

Atlantic Palace: A great place to stay in Florence

by A TripAdvisor Member

Atlantic Palace is a great hotel, we stayed there for 3 nights. The rooms were clean, fresh and spacious. It’s only 10 minutes walk from all of the key attractions, but it has the downfall of being on the very busy Via Nazionale. Florence is an excellent place to visit and the Atlantic Palace was good value for money in a convenient location.

I Never Wanted To Leave!!!!!

I loved this hotel. This was my first trip to Europe and my girlfriend had selected the hotel. It was fantastic-the location was right in the middle of everything. It was easy to find from the train station and everything (except Piiti Palace but that was sort of a waste anyway). I CANNOT stop raving about the breakfast-yummy breads, meats, cheeses, pastries, cookies, snacks, cereals, fruit, juice, lattes and coffee...I could go on and on. All free!! I imagine that we saved quite a bit of money by having such a large breakfast (and keeping some of it for snacks). The staff was ever so polite and they always had excellent recommendations. I would go back to this hotel in an instant! My only caveat would be however, avoid the gelatteria directly across the street. The gelato was rather icy and given that there was an abundance of yummy gelato to be found (try it on a waffle-it is divine!), I was sad that we had wasted our time with this one. This was an exceptional hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone!! I am jealous that you get to go to Florence and this hotel in particluar.

Great location and rooms

We enjoyed our 3-day stay there. The staff were very helpful and friendly , they helped us pick the best tours out of Florence. The room was very clean. The hotel is walking distance to the train station and to amost everywhere in the city. we will go back for sure!

great little place to stay

by A TripAdvisor Member

this is a great place to stay--1st trip to Italy and had some other hotels probs. Not here--a/c rooms--helpful staff, good food. We got in to the city early on Sunday, the concierge helped us with planning our next couple of days. He suggested we go to Pisa on Monday when all the museums are closed in Florence, and see Florence on Sunday and Tuesday, they gave us the tour info and schedules. Hotel is a great match for the city. Wont go wrong here.

Book this hotel!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I had a lovely experience here! We were there at the end of May, 2006 for our honeymoon. The staff were so friendly and responsive. We were greeted on the sidewalk, had our bags taken in for us, and personally escorted to our room. There is an array of tourist information in the lobby and the front desk staff were more than willing to make recommendations of things to do! The room was very spacious and there was a regular shower! It is right around the corner from the train station and there are tons of cute cafes' and restaurants all around! The breakfast was typical, but be sure to ask for caffe americano or caffe latte if you don't want espresso...this seemed to be the only hotel that would serve espresso if you did not clarify. All in all a great value....we were so sad to go, and would love to go back!

Very romantic room

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed in June 2006, and were pleasantly surprised with the room. Beautiful roof and interior decorations. The A/C worked great and the bathromm was great. Very clean. Breakfast in the morning was a nice spread with plenty of options included in the price.

Dining room was very nice. Would definitely stay and recommend. Nice staff and great location. Close to everything. Neighborhood has many shops and stores. Very close to rail station (about a block and a half).

There is a daily flea market that is around the block from the hotel. It should quench the averarage tourists thirst for bargains.

Safe bet

Our superior double at The Atlantic had a view of the Duomo (main Cathedral.) Good air con and bathroom, cleaned regularly - as you would expect for 180 euros a night. Lovely period furniture and shutters. Tiny old lift and cranky TV only signs of tiredness. Inclusive breakfast pretty good.
The hotel is near the rail station hence a bit of a bustle. But it's far enough down the street, and close enough to the Duomo and the lovely market for the location still to be pretty good. South of the Duomo around Uffizi seemed the best district for ambience.
Snooty desk staff shrugged when I asked for an iron to press a shirt for a wedding. Said hotel policy was not to lend out irons for safety reasons - poor service for 4*. Made some lame crack about the creased look being in fashion. There went his tip. But desk staff did recommend a great restaurant around the corner.
Florence seems to be a city full of expensive hotels of variable quality - it's such a tourist trap that it gets away with it. But the Atlantic is pretty good.

Disappointing

by TripAdvisor Member MarkNYCity

We stayed for three nights in what is rated as a 4-star hotel. Our room turned out to be a very small bedroom, with a very small bathroom, in a hotel that looked somewhat rundown, especially in the hallways. We booked this, as well as our other hotel reservations in Rome and Venice through an online agency, choosing from listings of "4-star" hotels. The hotels in the other cities were lovely, the Atlantic Palace in Florence was not. On the plus side, there was a very nice buffet breakfast, and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. However, overall the Atlantic Palace was a disappointment.

Small hotel, close to train station & Duomo

by TripAdvisor Member ahs4y

This is a small hotel, within walking distance of the Statzione Centrale and Duomo (take a left turn as soon as you exit the hotel, and you are on the street with all the shops, leading to the Duomo and Piazzas and museums). It gives an antique look and it is quite antique, though remodelled to a certain extent recently. The room had no good views, but it had a flat panel LG TV with only 7 channels (not that I was there to watch TV, but...!)

The roof was wooden and it room was a bit empty but roomier than many. The decor and appointments weren't much to write home about, and the lift was a bit scary, but it was very clean and the price was decent, and the location was good & safe (though there were lots of gypsies around asking for money). Everything is within walking distance.

Bathroom was fine and clean but looked antique as well! But for the price, it wasn't a bad deal (especially since we were only there for 1 night). Room had a minibar, but no safe. Room locks were a bit difficult to open (old-fashioned key) and the corridors were so cramped only one person (or suitcase) could be there at a time. The lobby had wifi but not free. The city is nice, so enjoy!
