More about B&B La Casa dei Tintori
I highly recommend La Casa dei Tintori to all travelers.
We arrived in Florence by train in the early evening, hot, tired and hungry. We walked to our B&B – La Casa dei Tintori, along the river Arno, our spirits improving as we passed the Ponte Vecchio. The beauty and grace of the city was already taking effect.
When we reached La Casa dei Tintori, we were welcomed at the door by our host, Alfredo, as wonderfully charming as his B&B. I had the Blue room – a perfect choice. Two single beds, a desk, a large armoire, an impressively high ceiling, a lovely tall window filtering the light coming in, a gleaming white bathroom with everything I’d need for my stay. Did I mention the air conditioner? All of this in a room filled with the ambiance of an earlier century.
Alfredo had many suggestions for dinner that first evening, all close by. And throughout our stay, he let us use their phone and their computer, reserved tickets for us to the Uffizzi and helped us with train and taxi arrangements; for our last night he made reservations for us at an incredibly delicious restaurant a few doors down the street from the B & B.
Breakfast was served by Alfredo’s wife, Valeria, who was lovely, gracious, funny and generous. She made us our coffees individually as we came out of our rooms. This was followed up by fresh croissant, cereals, and yogurt. Lingering over breakfast, laughing with Valeria, was a perfect way to start the day.
I highly recommend this B&B to all travelers. The genuine warmth and helpfulness of our hosts and the charm of the rooms we stayed in made our stay in Florence all the more enjoyable.
A special find
We went to Florence in the summer for my best friend's wedding and we were looking for a place which was centrally located near the Palazzo Vecchio, which was affordable, and which had at least a little bit of character.
La Casa dei Tintori owned by Alfredo and Valeria was a perfect find. The B&B is located on the Corso dei Tintori which is within easy walking distance to most sights in town. If you arrive at the SMN train station, the B&B is a short taxi ride or bus ride away.
Alfredo and Valeria have carefully and lovingly restored La Casa dei Tintori so you feel you're walking into a bit of Florence's past. We stayed in the Green Room, which was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Each room has its own new bathroom/shower etc. You are also given your own set of keys, so you don't have to worry about when you come back etc.
Both Alfredo and Valeria are available around breakfast time to give advice on what to see etc. As hosts, they made us feel welcome and at home.
We would definitely stay here again - perhaps try out one of the other colour rooms!
Very warm welcome
Lovely warm welcome from Alfredo - nothing is too much trouble for him. Very carefuly restored with little quirks. Great tall raftered ceiling in our room (the Green Room). Comfy bed and quiet at night.
Simple but perfectly adequate breakfast, served by Alfredo. Great recomendations for evening meals.
Very convenient for the centre / east side of Florence and maybe 15 minutes brisk walk to anywhere else you might want to go, but then Florence is one of the most walkable towns we have visited. Very convenient having our own front door key
Very highly recomended
We came to Florence for a wedding last weekend and had La Casa dei Tintori recommended to us by our Italian friend who was from Florence and also thye bride ! ...it is in perfect place to walk everywhere int he City and the place is exquisite ...so much character and style ,..,Alfredo and his wife were very accomodating and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a romantic weekend away
Want to find something unique in Florence?
What a fabulous find!
La Casa Dei Tintori is a home away from home. With plush unique rooms and warm hospitality we would definitely recommend it as a place to stay in Florence. It's in the centre of town and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go.
Alfredo gave us a warm welcome as we wearily arrived on Sunday night and Valarie cheerfully made us breakfast every morning remembering what we liked to eat, how we liked our coffee, and how much coffee we liked! We didn't need to think about a thing!
The rooms were very comfortable and the old beam ceilings incredible.
Definitely stay at La Casa Dei Tintori if you're tired of corporate soleless hotels. It really did feel more like we were staying at a friends house than staying at a B&B.
Casa dei Tintori -- a Special Find with Wonderful Hosts
Just got back from a trip to Florence, Italy. Valeria and Alfredo at B&B La Casa dei Tintori made us feel so welcome and at home. Valeria was so sweet to us-- the day we were leaving, we had to get up very early, and she insisted on getting up (4 am!) and getting some breakfast for us. She's the best! :) The room was comfy (we stayed in the Indigo room) and had secure features like lockable drawers on the nightstands, along with a security wall lock box. The bathroom is completely modern and includes a nifty wall hair dryer (reminded me more of a little vacuum cleaner nozzle :) )
One day, while my husband and I were out and about, we ran into Alfredo and Valeria. They asked us what we were up to, and we told them we were looking for souvenirs and chocolates to bring home as gifts. They not only recommended a great chocolate shop, but insisted on escorting us to the place. Valeria doesn't speak English, but she knows how to get her thoughts across-- I just love her! Alfredo is so helpful, too.
All in all, I highly recommend this B&B!
A unique and peaceful B&B close to the heart of Florence
La Casa dei Tintori is a renovated dyers' workshop, just a short distance from the Uffizi and other major attractions in Florence. Although we arrived "out of hours" Valeria was very welcoming and quickly settled us into our room.
Our first night was spent in the Light Blue Room, a curiously long room with two single beds arranged end to end. We moved for the rest of our stay to the Red Room, more conventionally proportioned, and quite grand in appearance. We stayed in two rooms only because we had been late to book, and there had not been just one room available for the whole of our stay, but in the event it was interesting to have the experience of both. They are well-appointed, with high quality hard and soft furnishings. Both rooms are at the front of the house and overlook the street, but we were not unduly bothered by noise. The whole house reflects the pride and good taste of the owners. Alfredo is a professional architect and the sensitivity of his restoration is clearly in evidence.
Alfredo and Valeria are excellent hosts - discreet but helpful whenever needed. And everything is in place to make your stay easy and enjoyable. The breakfast is substantial - continental style accompanied by good coffee - and there is free internet.
Other than breakfast no meals are offered, but there are many restaurants nearby serving authentic Tuscan food.
Once installed, we were given keys to enter and leave the building as we pleased. The proximity to the city centre - which contains most of Florence's treasures - meant that it was practical to walk throughout our stay. A bus (number 23) is probably only necessary between the B&B and the railway station, when you also have to consider your luggage.
Best of Florence
Alfredo and Valeria made my trip to Firenze memorable. The accommodation was a charming, beautifully restored building very close to the Uffizi Gallery and centre of Firenze. Although on a busy street it was very quiet inside the building and quite secure. Breakfast was beautifully presented and served by Valeria who went to greatlengths to make sure that I had what I wanted. As a single person travelling alone it was ideal. I not only got to chat with my hosts but other people staying at Casa dei Tintori who were equally complementary about the B&B.
The perfect B&B in Florence
My wife and I stayed in the Yellow room at La Casa Dei Tintori and had a wonderful stay. Our room was very comfortable and well decorated keeping with the history of the building. The owners were amazing. Valeria made a wonderful breakfast every morning and Alfredo was a very kind, gentle man who did everything he could to make our stay great!
We can't wait to go back to Florence and La Casa Dei Tintori!
My new favorite place to stay in Florence!

This fabulous B&B (and Valeria and Alfredo) really helped to make Mom's surprise birthday trip to Florence absolutely perfect.
