Rent a car online

by sandranunes

Hi all,
We intend to hire a car in Rome to drive to Florence then drop it in Venice. Is it advisable to book it online? Is there any difference in price if I do it at the last minute at the counter?
Thanks!

If you don't book prior to arrival you will pay the highest price the car company can offer you. The earlier you book the better the price may be, you can always check back and see if the price has dropped and if so you can rebook.

Thank you Yvr!
I´ve posted this also in Rome forum and I came to this same conclusion.

Travel Tips for Florence

COPPERS!!

by huwhit

I have previously said that Florentines are incredibly classy in the way they present themselves. The Police Force are no exception!

These cops are dressed in the tightest slothes that you can imagine - sure they are fashionable but are they practicle I ask!!!!!!!

Ponte Vecchio

by joecooper

Sitting on Ponte Vecchio in the evening listening to the buskers, watching the street artists and eating chocolate icecream! Each place we went to after Florence, we tried to find a 'Ponte Vecchio' - a special place we would end up at each evening. In Rome it was the Pantheon, in Naples the steps outside our hotel(!), in Siracuse the seafront and in Venice the bar near our hotel. Apart from the PAntheon (maybe) nothing could compare to Vecchio!

Medici Villas

by GeoDenia

The Medicis built several opulent villas throughout the countryside around Florence during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Villa della Petraia, about 3.5km north of the city, is one of the finest. It was commissioned by Cardinal Ferdinand de' Medici in 1576, and features magnificent gardens. The Villa di Castello, farther north, was the summer home of Lorenzo the Magnificent, and the Villa di Poggio a Caiano was a more permanent base, built for Lorenzo by di Sangallo about 15km from Florence.

Space Electronic Night Club

by lashr1999 about Space Electronic Night Club

The Space Electronic Disco has a great setup and music. The best time to get there is after 12 midnight and it stays packed until 3 AM. The bartenders were wonderful too, remember that the entrance ticket gives you a free drink;) The second floor is where the action is, you have to be there when the laser lights start. They play a variety of disco and techno music on this level. The first level has Karaoke which is fun if you are drunk and with friends who make fun of how badly you mess up the lyrics.

Cheap and Awesome Dinner Theatre!

by bzulauf about Cibreo Teatro del Sale

One of the liveliest spots in town is also one of the cheapest. Cibreo Teatro del Sale (Via dei Macci 111/r; 39-055-200-1492, www.teatrodelsale.com) is a private club that offers one-time memberships at the door (5 euros). Once inside, 25 euros buys you all the food and wine you can eat and drink. Get there early, around 7:30 p.m., so you don't miss all the great dishes that the kitchen continually lays out on the buffet: fresh pastas, grilled meats, sautéed vegetables and all kinds of salads. Plates are small but no one is shy about going back for seconds, thirds and fourths. Around 9:30 p.m., all chairs turn to face the stage for the evening's performance, which could be anything from “Macbeth” to Gershwin.
