how to find my way

where is mercato centrale

Re: how to find my way

by leics

'Mercato Centrale' is the central market, a little north of P. San Lorenzo, about 5 minutes walk from SM Novella station.

I can't tell you the way, because I don't know where you are now, but if you put 'mercato centrale florence' into google you will get a google streetmap.

You can also get a free streetmap from the Florence tourist information offices (there is one directly opposite SM Novella station). I suggest you do this.

Travel Tips for Florence

Visit the Duomo, the Cathedral...

by daisyanna

Visit the Duomo, the Cathedral in plain english. You really can't miss it, it is the big thing covered in marble!! Jokes aside though, this building will quite literally blow your mind when you see the architecture close to and appreciate the time and trouble gone into building it. I am also very proud of this picture...pretty cool eh? My fondest memory of Florence is the sunshine and the feeling of ease. I wondered about without a care in the world and it was so clean....I am proud of my photos but you have to go to feel it for yourself. For me, seeing the Duomo was the highlight but walking over the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge was good too.

Museum Tickets in Floville

Avoid the two-hour peak-season midday wait by making a telephone reservation. It's easy, slick, and costs only €3 (in addition to the €9.50 admission fee). Dial 055-294-883 during office hours (Mon-Fri 8:30-18:30, Sat 8:30-12:30, closed Sun) at least a day before your visit and ideally at least a few days in advance for a better selection. With the help of an English-speaking operator, you'll get an entry slot (15-min window) and a six-digit confirmation number. Off-season, it can be possible to get a same-day reservation. Using the same phone number, you can reserve in advance for the Accademia, Bargello, Medici Chapels, and Pitti Palace; of these, the Accademia has the worst lines.

Visit Giardino di Boboli.

Visit Giardino di Boboli.
These gardens are a nice retreat for Florintines, on the south side of the Arno, behind the Palazzo Pitti. You have to pay to enter, but if you are an EU citizen and a teacher you can get in cheaper (you need ID) for 2000 Italian Lira (just over 1 euro).

Space Electronics (dancing...

by Patricialuv

Space Electronics (dancing club with techno, hip-hop and mix of popular songs)
Central Park (outdoor club with three dance floors: one for hip-hop, one for techno and another one which includes a live band.)
Andromeda (small but good danceclub that has all types of music) Most clubs require no sneakers and no jeans.
It is always recommendable to wear long pants or skirts whenever you are outside at night. (I'm referring to the hot summer weather that Florence has from June to August).

Excellent Value

by tigerjapan about Trattoria Guelfa

Fantastic "Menu Turistico" for 9Euros! Three course with wine or water and service charge included.
The a la carte menu has better offerings and more range and is still very reasonable.
This restaurant, located so near to the main train station, is a real find!!! Ribollita soup!
